the hose is long enough to do 3 and 1/2 barspins with my dj bike without stretching the hose, and the rubber piece is some hockey tape keeping dirt and shit from getting in between the hose and the handle part of the brake... yes i know its a little hack but it works and it saves money from having to buy new plastic cables to encase the hose
